Astaxanthin is a specific antioxidant with a wide range of action

Astaxanthin (pronounced “Asta-ZAN-tin”) is a natural carotenoid found in algae, shrimp, lobster, crab and salmon. Carotenoids are natural color pigments that support health.

Astaxanthin, also called the “king of carotenoids”, is red and is responsible for color transformation in salmon, crab, lobster and shrimp. In the animal kingdom, astaxanthin is found in the highest concentration in salmon muscles. Scientists say that astaxanthin helps to ensure the remarkable resistance of these animals that have to swim counter current. The richest source of astaxanthin is the red alga Haematococcus pluvialis. For humans, astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant with widespread health implications, and unlike other antioxidants, it never becomes pro-oxidant in the body. Astaxanhthin molecule is the only antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals or other oxidants, either by accepting or by donating electrons. In addition to other antioxidants, astaxanthin has the greatest ability to annihilate those free radicals with “singular oxygen”.

Astaxanthin was studied by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Joe Mercola and recommended by many health experts. Now a single myth needs to be clarified: Krill oil supplements contain traces of astaxanthin, far from what is needed to get the therapeutic benefits discussed.

Here are 6 reasons to take astaxanthin every day:

1. Astaxanthin can help relieve pain and inflammation

Astaxanthin is a potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic, blocking various chemicals in your body that will cause pain. Moreover, astaxanthin reduces the inflammatory compounds that lead to many chronic diseases. Even though it is 100% natural, astaxanthin works better than analgesic drugs, without risk of addiction, bleeding or burning to the stomach. More specifically, astaxanthin blocks COX 2 enzymes just like Celebrex, the famously prescribed medicine for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain and monthly dysmenorrhea. In fact, astaxanthin works well with Celebrex – it would be wise to administer both together if your doctor to approves astaxanthin.

Natural astaxanthin affects not only the COX 2 pathway, but also suppresses serum levels of nitric oxide, interleukin 1B, prostaglandin E2, reactive protein C (CRP) and TNF-alpha (tumor necrosis factor alpha). It has been shown that natural astaxanthin reduces CRP by more than 20% in only eight weeks. There is no prescription medicine known as having such an effect! Even the American Heart Association says CRP is a key indicator of heart disease. Astaxanthin reduces LDL peroxidation in the vascular wall.

2. Astaxanthin helps fight fatigue

Astaxanthin offers excellent recovery after exercise. Like helping salmon swim upstream, astaxanthin can help athletes with muscle recovery, increased strength and improved energy levels.

3. Astaxanthin supports the health of the eye

Remember your famous song: “I see now, the rain has gone…”

Well, we associate the song with Astaxanthin. it has the unique ability to pass through barriers and reach the retina. Well-designed clinical studies have shown that astaxanthin helps diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, eye fatigue and detail vision. There are positive, well-designed clinical trials that support the positive effect of astaxanthin on the health of the eyes. Associated with Lutein and Zeaxanthin, Astaxanthin can do wonders for your vision.

4. Astaxanthin cleans and protects cells

Astaxanthin is in its own class when it comes to antioxidant coverage, because it reaches every cell of the body. Its unique lipophilic and hydrophilic molecular properties allow it to penetrate the entire cellular body with a portion of the astaxanthin molecule that protects the fat-soluble part of the cell and the other part that protects the water-soluble part of the cell in. This could describe as “a whole cell hug”.

5. Excellent skin protection against ultraviolet light

It has been shown that astaxanthin protects the largest organ of the body, the skin. Studies are clear and consistent and show excellent results to help maintain skin moisture, smoothness, elasticity, fight fine wrinkles and stains or freckles.

Astaxanthin reduces the damage caused by ultraviolet radiation from the sun. In fact, if you suffer from a sunburn that causes inflammation, astaxanthin penetrates the skin cells and reduces the damage caused by UVA. It’s like an internal sunscreen!

6. Astaxanthin for Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome is a group of diseases – increased blood pressure, increased blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels – occurring together, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Astaxanthin has a significant positive effect in cases of Metabolic Syndrome. In double-blind, randomized controlled trials (SCR), astaxanthin reduced oxidative stress in overweight and obese subjects, diabetics and smokers. The principle of action is as follows: astaxanthin increases the blood level of adiponectin. Adiponectin is a hormone produced by adipose tissue, cardiac tissue, skeletal muscles and endothelium of blood vessels. Serum adiponectin levels tend to be significantly reduced in obese, diabetic, smoker subjects in coronary heart disease patients and in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Provita Nutrition offers the Astaxanthin Forte at a concentration of 15 mg per capsule.
