Nattokinase was discovered by the Japanese scientist Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi in 1998, by fermentation, in the presence of the Bacillus natto bacteria.
Our diet contains a large variety of foods which can lead to high levels of cholesterol, artery deposits and inflammations of the arteries. Thus the propitious medium is created for the formation of blood clots, cardiovascular disease and stroke. The atheromatous plaques are a danger not just because they inhibit the blood flow but, in the worst cases they can detach and circulate in the blood causing myocardial infarction or stroke (cerebral congestion).
The body produces certain substances which convert fibrinogen into fibrin. The fibrin contributes to the aggregation of red cells sand the formation of the blood clot. The clotting of the blood is useful when we have an injury, because it helps the closing of the wound. However, many times these clots are formed also where they shouldn’t be, thus becoming a danger.
The enzyme which disintegrates fibrin is plasmin. With ageing the body produces less and less plasmin and more fibrinogen. As a result, the body starts to coagulate the blood more and dezintegrate the coagulated blood less and less.
Nattokinase has a unique capacity to desintegrate fibrin, similarly with the actionn of plasmin. Nattokinase prevents blood coagulation and the formation of plaques (atheromas) on the arteries. If blood clots have however formed, Nattokinase can dissolve them. This is an extraordinary thing because not only does it prevent the formation of blood clots, but in the cases of heart attack or stroke they can dissolvee the clot which obturates the affected artery helping with the restoration of the bloodstream. Reaching into the venous system, Nattokinase is also beneficial in the cases of venous thrombosis.
A study from 2009 has shown that Nattokinase can be beneficial in the catabolism of the amiloyd fibrils associated with Alzheimer disease.
Due to the capacity of Nattokinase to dissolve amiloyd fibrils, it can represent an important element in treating Multiple Sclerosis and Amyloidal Lateral Sclerosis (SLA).
Nattokinase from Konig is encapsulated in vegetable capsules with delayed dissolution (resistant to gastric acid) so to avoid the destruction of the enzyme by the acids in the stomach.
