DESCRIPTION

Used for centuries by South Pacific Islanders to promote relaxation, modern research confirms kava’s ability to help calm nervousness, relax tense muscles, and improve sleep quality. Kava also improves focus and mental clarity.

Natural Factors Kava Kava (Piper methysticum) is an extract standardized to 30% kavalactones, the active constituent in kava. Kava influences the brain and other parts of the central nervous system. The kavalactones found in kava are responsible for its effects. They act on the brain, making you feel calm, relaxed and happy. There is also evidence that the kava plant relieves pain, prevents seizures and relaxes muscles.

Kava has been used to treat a number of conditions, including:

  • Anxiety – including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Stress
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) – the physical and emotional symptoms that come before a woman’s period
