Pharmacological actions
The extract from the leaves of the Ginkgo Biloba (Ginkgo Biloba is known as the “Tree of Eternal Youth”) has been studied by pharmacologists around the world and has been used in many countries in different forms of presentation (liquid extract / capsules / tablets).
One of the problems associated with the administration of extracts of Ginkgo Biloba is the presence of glycolic acid, a component which is allergenic and toxic. Although it is a minor component, with the passage of time may cause undesirable effects.
Ginkgo Gold Memory contains a standardized extract of Ginkgo Biloba from which Glycolic Acid has been removed. Unlike other products, Ginkgo Gold-Memory contains two important ingredients for the synergistic activity of the brain: standardized extract of Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) and L-Glutamic Acid.
Siberian Ginseng improves brain function, concentration and memory.
L-glutamic acid is an essential neurotransmitter necessary for the functions of the brain responsible for cognition, memory and learning.
Ginkgolides are a group of unique and strictly specific substances in Ginkgo Biloba. Their main action is inhibition of PAF (platelet activating factor) and the prevention of thrombosis.
The flavonoid substance (flavonoheterozide) acts as Vitamin P (or permeability factor) and binds to intracellular proteins by decreasing the permeability of blood capillaries and increasing its resistance.
The Bilobalide, a sesquiterpene with 15 carbon atoms, acts as a competitive antagonist of the receptor for GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). The main action is neuroprotection (protection of the biological functions of neurons).
The extract of Ginkgo Biloba leaves also contains vitamin C, Beta carotene, the organic acids (kynurenic acid, shikimic acid, benzoic acid), tannins, alcohols, sand sterols.
