Chinese larva fungus, also known as Cordyceps Sinensis is a fungus that grows in the green swamp of Tibet. And it is considered one of the top three tonics of Chinese traditional medicine , along with ginseng and deer horn . In the summer, it looks like a worm and in the winter it looks like grass. From here the name in Chinese “Dongchong Xiacao”, which literally means “worm – winter and summer – grass”.
Two active substances have been identified in Cordyceps: cordycepin (deoxyadenosine) and cordycepic acid (mannitol).
