AHCC Plus

Activation of NK and T cells via antioxidant pathways with AHCC Plus

AHCC Plus manufactured in Canada by Provita Nutrition contains a combination of 3 ingredients: AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound), Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan and Arabinogalactan.

AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound) is a standardized extract of cultured Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) mushroom mycelia. Shiitake is found in Health Canada Monograph “Antioxidants” as well in the Monograph “Mushrooms” with the health claim “Source of fungal polysaccharides with immunomodulating properties”1.  By extension, via its unique and specific antioxidant pathways, AHCC modulates the numbers and functions of immune cells including natural killer (NK) and T cells which play important roles in host defense, suggesting the possible implication of its supplementation in defending the host against infections via modulating the immune system2 (Min Sun Shin et al., 2019). Clinical effects and safety have been demonstrated in humans, as well as in healthy subjects, most recently in a report investigating the potential application of AHCC as an adjuvant in vaccinations3 (Barry W. Ritz – 2011)

Beta 1,3/1,6 D-glucan is a compound isolated from the cell wall of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) exhibiting multiple positive effects on health4,5,6  (Heike Stier et al.- 2014, Godfrey Chi-Fung Chan et al. 2009; Shahla Chaichian et al. 2020). Therefore,  Beta 1,3/1,6 D-glucan complements and enhances the effects of alpha glucans.

Arabinogalactan is extracted from the larch tree and it has been found to be a novel immune modulator with clinical relevance7,8 (Peter d’Adamo – 1996;  Gregory S. Kelly – 1999)

The combination of the ingredients in AHCC Pro creates a unique formulation with multiple applications in disease and immunity.
