The medicinal ingredients are Pterostilbene and Resveratrol, associated with Quercetin, MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) and BioPerine® (Piper nigrum standardized extract) for increased absorption and bioavailability.
Although they are both related antioxidants, Pterostilbene and Resveratrol complement each other by the outcomes of their specific antioxidant effects. The antioxidant effect of resveratrol provides for activation of calorie restriction factor (CRF) and telomere maintenance with main outcomes being cardiovascular and anti-aging effects while Pterostilbene acts as an antioxidant by activating AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) that regulates energy metabolism and by activating Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) (Yi-Rong Li 2017) (Sanghoon Kwon 2017).
Obesity and aging diminish Sirtuin 1, a protein encoded by the SIRT1 longevity gene. SIRT1 is one of the most important transcriptional factors that drives many cellular activities, like energy metabolism, cell survival, DNA stability, inflammation, and circadian rhythms (Grabowska 2017; McCormack 2013; Obesity and aging diminish sirtuin 1 (Sanghoon Kwon 2017).
The antioxidant activity of Pterostilbene has been implicated in cellular DNA protection, modulation of neurological disfunction, anti-inflammation, attenuation of vascular disease, and amelioration of metabolic syndrome. In disease models of aging, vascular disease, diabetes, and hemolysis, pterostilbene decreases oxidative 2018).
Pterostilbene ameliorates insulin sensitivity, glycemic control and oxidative stress and inhibits Dyslipidemia-Induced activation of progenitor adipose gene under high fat diet (Moustafa 2021).
In vitro and in cell assays pterostilbene shows the ability to reduce insulin secretion on glucose-stimulated pancreatic beta cells, opening the way to potential applications of pterostilbene as a supplement in the care of insulin-dependent metabolic disorders (Cassiano 2020).
Sirtuin 1 is NAD dependent, therefore increasing NAD+ levels may enhance the effect of pterostilbene. In clinical studies when Quercetin and Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) are associated with resveratrol and pterostilbene, it increases their bioavailability. BioPerine® (Sabinsa Corp. USA) is a standardized extract from Black pepper that increases resveratrol delivery and generally increases the absorption of all micro-nutrients in the formulation (Johnson 2011; Yogesh Badkhane 2010, Dariush 2017).
Ptero Gene can be successfully incorporated in the anti-aging protocols in particular because it’s ability to “wake up” the anti-aging gene via SIRT1 activation as well as increased DNA protection and repair. The activation of Calorie Restriction Factor (CRF) which simulates fasting is another effect that can prolong longevity. It can be associated synergistically with Stemulin™ CD34+.
