- An important amino acid for bile and heart.
- Recommended for heart disease (arrhythmia, tachycardia, palpitations, heart failure), diabetes, gall bladder disease.
- Pharmaceutical quality USP.
L-Taurine is a specialized amino acid. Taurine is a non-protein amino acid and is a product of the metabolism of the amino acid cysteine.
It acts as a pH buffer in the heart, skeletal muscles and central nervous system.
Recent studies have demonstrated that Taurine supplementation has beneficial effects in regulating the cardiac pace with applications in arrhythmias, palpitations, tachycardia (Reference 1).
The best known role of L-Taurine is participation in the liver to produce bile acids. These acids are essential for fat absorption. Taurine is a component of bile acting as a “soap” helping the body to break down fats and fat-soluble vitamins. Bile is also used to control cholesterol.
Recent studies indicate the important role of taurine for interaction between nerves and muscles. Recent clinical studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of taurine in congestive heart failure and diabetes. Taurine improves sugar use and increases the efficiency of insulin by reducing insulin resistance. With aging Taurine deficiency may worsen senile dementia.
Taurine deficiency can lead to: epilepsy, anxiety, hyperactivity, reduced brain function, arrhythmias and palpitations.
L-Taurine is found only in small quantities in the modern diet and therefore should be supplemented.
