DESCRIPTION

What is Subtivir?

Subtivir™ provides an innovative combination of ingredients that support antibody production, stimulate the immune system as well as attack pathogens with a focus on the respiratory system. It is known that respiratory viral infections are predominant during the flu season.

Immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, act as a critical part of the immune response by specifically recognizing and binding to antigens, such as bacteria or viruses, and aiding in their destruction.

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies are found in the mucous membranes of the lungs, sinuses, stomach, and intestines. They’re also in fluids like saliva as well as in the blood.

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most common type of antibody in your blood and other body fluids. These antibodies protect you against infection by “remembering” which germs you’ve been exposed to before.

While standardized bovine colostrum provides Immunoglobulin G (IgG), Bacillus subtilis stimulates the production of Immunoglobulin A (IgA).

IgG rich colostrum helps to support immune function within the upper respiratory tract1,2 (Health Canada Bovine colostrum monograph; Ulfman et al -2018).

Bacillus subtilis supplementation during the winter period is a safe effective way to stimulate immune responses by inducing a higher concentration of IgA antibodies3 (Lefevre et al. -2015). IgA antibodies are very important for lung health and can neutralize viruses4, 5 (Thorax – 1986; Mazanec et al-1992)

Andrographis paniculata standardized to 30% Andrographolide was found superior to placebo for reducing symptom severity in upper respiratory tract infections. The dominant symptom relief is improvement in cough intensity and frequency as well as severity of sore throat symptoms6,7 (Hu et al -2017; Coon et al -2004). Andrographolide has broad spectrum antiviral properties by restraining virus replication and virus-induced pathogenesis8 (Gupta et al. 2017).

A 100:1 extract from garlic is an additional tool against respiratory infections (Health Canada Monograph – Garlic).

Who needs Subtivir?

A strong antiviral to be used during flu season to support the immune system and relieve the symptoms associated with respiratory tract infections. Can be taken as a treatment or preventively throughout the year to protect against viruses, bacteria and fungi infections.
