Description

SOD (superoxide dismutase): enzymatic antioxidants

The antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) was discovered in 1969 by Dr. McCord along with professor Irwing Fridovich.

SOD catalyses the dismutation of ionic superoxide (O2) that is highly toxic in oxygen and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The SOD of this product is the most effective form of superoxide isolated dismutase from bovine blood plasma.

Catalase (oxidoreductase) is also an enzyme present in all aerobic cells, being mostly located in mitochondria and peroxisomes. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)  is an extremely toxic substance. Catalase decomposes H2O2 acting either as catalase or peroxidase. The highest amount of H2O2 is found in the liver and in the red blood cells. Absence of a sufficient amount of catalase for neutralization can result in severe damage to the liver or damage to the bloodstream. Catalase is even more effective if associated with SOD. As a principle, SOD is not effective in the absence of catalase and vice versa. SOD and catalase form one of the most powerful synergistic combinations of enzyme antioxidants.

Superoxide dismutase converts free radicals into hydrogen peroxide, and catalase converts hydrogen peroxide into water, thus completing the antioxidant cycle, the final product being water only.

What SOD can be combine with in cancer therapy

Enzymatic cancer therapy, besides nutraceuticals with apoptotic effect (therapeutical fungi, Nigella, Astragalus 9000), also involves concomitant administration of proteolytic enzymes associated with enzyme antioxidants.

In conclusion, the following enzymatic combination is recommended: SOD 3000, Serra Plus and Pancreatin forte.

Composition

SOD (superoxide dismutase) (animal origin) 3000 Umc / g 375 mg
Loading agent: microcrystalline cellulose 120 mg
