DESCRIPTION

What is Progexan?

Progexan is a natural alternative to support the hormone progesterone. Progexan contains a combination of high potency extracts from two herbs: Dioscorea oppositifolia and Trigonella foenum-graecum that, according to Health Canada ingredient database, are a source of Diosgenin (Ref. 1, 2). Diosgenin is a precursor for the hormone progesterone. Progesterone is useful for fertility as it prepares the uterus for pregnancy. In menopausal women, low progesterone and high estrogen may lead to the thickening of the uterus wall, a cause of endometriosis. Estrogen stimulates endometriosis and progesterone inhibits it.

Recently, it was found that Dioscorea opposittifolia contains a novel, estradiol stimulating, osteogenic protein with potential to treat menopausal syndrome. (Ref. 3).

Being a corticosteroid saponin, besides the beneficial effect on progesterone, diosgenin has many other pharmacological applications (Ref. 4) including as an adjuvant in cancer therapy. (Ref. 5)

More recent studies indicate that diosgenin can also be beneficial for the health of the central nervous system (Ref. 6) including cognitive function (Ref. 7) and cardiovascular system (Ref. 8). Saponins from Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) are also known for their anti-diabetic effects via the positive effects in metabolic syndrome.

According to the analysis of medical literature, symptoms of low progesterone may include:

  • weight gain.
  • decreased sex drive, mood swings.
  • PMS, irregular menstrual cycle, heavy bleeding.
  • breast tenderness, fibrocystic breasts.
  • gallbladder problems.

Symptoms of low progesterone and high estrogen may include:

  • bloating
  • swelling and tenderness in your breasts
  • fibrocystic lumps in your breasts
  • thickening of the uterus endometrium
  • decreased sex drive
  • irregular menstrual periods
  • increased symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • mood swings
  • headaches.

Progexan also contains a high potency extract from Smilax also known as Sarsaparilla. It is considered a blood purifier by western herbalists and an herb to clear Heat and relieve Toxicity by TCM herbalists. By acting on the liver meridian, it may help clear excess liver estrogen and other toxins.

Who needs Progexan?

Women who have low progesterone levels. Women with fertility problems. Pre-menopausal and menopausal women. Men with symptoms described above.

DID YOU KNOW...

…men also need progesterone. In men, progesterone is converted into testosterone and helps to reduce estrogen. As men age the level of progesterone starts to decrease. Natural production by the testes and adrenals in men starts to decrease with aging and can lead to an imbalance, not only of progesterone, but also lead to decreased testosterone and an increase of estrogen. Balance between Testosterone, Progesterone and male Estrogen is the key to being healthy.

Symptoms of Progesterone imbalance in men are similar with Testosterone imbalance:

  • Decreased or lack of energy
  • Decrease in libido or sex drive
  • Difficulty in sexual arousal with weaker erections
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Cognitive concerns
  • Weight gain
  • Thinning of bones or bone loss
  • Thinning and dry hair
  • Loss of muscle mass

Men can associate Progexan with Prostate Protekt.

The administration dose for men is similar to the administration dose for women.
